Welcome to Clapham Vehicle Hire Services. These Terms of Service (Terms) govern your use of our website carhireclapham.co.uk and our vehicle rental services. By using our services
1. Clapham Tenancy Agreement
All Clapham vehicle rentals are governed by a Rental Agreement provided at booking confirmation or at vehicle collection. The agreement sets out the terms, conditions, insurance details, charges, and your responsibilities for the relevant rental. If there is any conflict between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will take precedence.
2. Clapham Eligibility
To rent a vehicle from Clapham, you must:
- Be at least 21 years old (age limits may differ by vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25). Hold a valid, full driving licence appropriate to the vehicle category, held for the minimum period set out in the Clapham Rental Agreement. Provide valid identification and proof of address, a payment method and any further documentation requested by Clapham and set out in the Rental Agreement.
3. Booking and Payment — Clapham
- Reservations may be made via our website, by phone, or in person at our Clapham office. A booking deposit may be required to confirm your reservation. Final payment and any security deposit are generally collected when the vehicle is handed over. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable.
4. Vehicle Pickup and Return
- You must inspect the vehicle thoroughly at collection and report any existing damage to Clapham immediately. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by you and a Clapham representative. Return the vehicle in the same condition as collected, allowing for normal wear and tear. Any new damage identified on return will be assessed and charged to you in accordance with Clapham policies.
5. Insurance and Liability — Clapham
- Clapham includes basic third-party insurance with all rentals. Full coverage details and excess amounts are provided in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to reduce your financial liability. We recommend reviewing these options carefully. You are responsible for damage or loss up to the amounts specified in the Rental Agreement.
6. Cancellation and Amendments
Cancellation and amendment policies at Clapham differ by booking type and notice period. Consult your booking confirmation or the Rental Agreement for the applicable terms. Late cancellations or no-shows may incur charges.
7. Clapham Prohibitions
You must not use a Clapham vehicle for:
- Use of a Clapham vehicle for any illegal purpose or activity. Racing, rallying, off‑roading, or other hazardous driving activities. Transporting hazardous or dangerous materials. Subletting the vehicle to third parties or permitting unauthorized drivers. Operating a Clapham vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Any use that is inconsistent with the vehicle's intended purpose.
Violating Clapham's restrictions may result in immediate rental termination and extra charges.
8. Limitation of Liability — Clapham
To the maximum extent permitted by English and Welsh law, Clapham will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or loss of profits, data, or business, arising from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the fees you paid for the service that gave rise to the claim.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms apply to Clapham and are governed by English and Welsh law. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of English and Welsh courts.
10. Changes to Clapham Terms
Clapham may modify these Terms at any time. Modifications take effect immediately upon posting on the Clapham website. Continued use of Clapham services constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
